Varietal Focus: Pinot Blanc

Pinot Blanc

France (Alsace, Burgundy, Champagne), Germany, Luxembourg, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, USA (California) Canada (Okanagan Valley), Australia

A mutation of Pinot Noir, this varietal is softer in acidity than Pinot Gris, yet tree fruits, soft white blossoms and simple citrus notes are common.  Green vegetal notes of peppers and chives can be found in warmer climates.

Can be very versatile, however warmer climates have less acidity and vegetal notes which pair fantastic with mild and rich creamy dishes- such as scalped potatos, Raclette fondue, and savory tarts or quiches.
